As you all should know by now, I am Yolanda Ringgold. I was born in El Paso, Texas and raised in Denton, Maryland. I currently reside in Salisbury, Maryland. I graduated from Wicomico High School and then decided to go to Bowie State University. While in my sophomore year at college (studying Art) I decided school wasn't for me but I knew had to do something to have a successful career and future. My new venture was the United States Air Force. It was a quick decision and it ended up being a good career move. The AF gave me more confidence, determination, focus, and drive. I was now a professional ready for anything! While in the military I was able to travel back to Texas, to Mississippi, and then I was stationed in Georgia. After my enlistment I decided to move back to Maryland to be closer with family. And because of my experience in the military I was able to land a job at the Circuit Court for Wicomico County. I am currently the lead worker in the civil department. At this point I was 22 years old and I felt very accomplished but something was still missing. I have always been a very creative person from childhood but when I studied art at Bowie State it just didn't interest me because I thought I knew it all- it was like being in pre-school again learning my ABCs. Art was definitely missing from my life so I decided to get a job in the art & design field. After several interviews without any success I became extremely frustrated. Employers were looking for education and experience and according to them I didn't have either one. This made me so mad because how do you get experience if everyone is looking for experience? I needed someone to believe in me and just take that risk that I would be awesome! Which I am, I must say! Lol. But no one took the risk. So what is a girl to do? I STARTED MY OWN CAREER and went back to school at the Art Institute of Pittsburg! I decided I can't give up and depend on an employer hiring me; I had to take control of my own destiny. I now have a clothing line, F.A.T.E. (Female Attire to Entice), with my partner Shelton "Hawk"ins (Houston, TX); and of course I have my blog, Et Cetera Blog Magazine! Finally, I feel complete. I have family, friends, a wonderful job, and an awesome career that I control!
Et Cetera Blog Magazine was created in July 2010. It all started on my personal facebook page. A lot of my friends would visit my profile to see all the latest in fashion and entertainment; my profile was basically a blog! So my friend, Heather Carmichael suggested I start my own website. It was an awesome idea so I did! On my facebook page I created a status to let people know and they were able to help me with the name of the blog. Of course, Et Cetera was very popular. Et Cetera was perfect because the blog touches on so many subjects.
Et Cetera Blog magazine is very laid back, personal, and visual! I want my readers to feel at home; like they are on a lunch date with their BFF talking about fashion and gossiping of course! On my blog I try to stay updated on what my favorite celebrities are doing and wearing. The blog features random photos of celebs and then I recreate their look for less. I research the internet to find the items and link each one for my readers to purchase. My blog is very important to me because it helps me to stay focused, creative, fit, fashionable, and confident. Because of that I think that it gives my readers the same effect; and knowing that makes me feel so good. I hope it inspires everyone to look and feel good. The blog also features other tips on beauty, fitness, music, and products to look out for. I have also started contests and giveaways, so please visit often for my next event! And remember to add ETC Blog Magazine to your favorites to get all the latest!
